Full-Time and Part-Time Therapist

Towson Therapy Group is seeking a passionate therapist to join our team as a full-time or part-time clinician!

 

Opportunity 

We currently offer in-person and virtual appointments to clients

This exciting paid training opportunity is geared towards recent doctoral graduates of clinical or counseling psychology programs. The fellowship is a 40-hour per week, one-year long training program that focuses on the following:  

 

  • Completion of supervised hours towards licensure.

  • Increasing competencies in incorporating tenets of social justice into clinical practice and gaining advanced training in mental health advocacy at multiple levels of care/practice.

  • Developing skills for both clinical care, as well as business administration, specific to a private practice setting.

 

Goals

  • Increase awareness of social justice issues and multicultural concerns in the practice of clinical psychology and enhance competency in the incorporation of culturally competent practices in therapy.  

  • Develop advocacy skills at the intersections clinical psychology and social justice across several areas through training and practice (e.g., community-based projects, work with legislators). 

  • Develop skills for a private practice career, including integrating best practices into clinical work, as well as increasing business administration skills.  

  • Increasing competency in various therapeutic modalities, including mindfulness-informed, ACT, psychodynamic. 

  • Exposure to literature on advocacy and evidence-based practice of psychology

 

Commitment 

 

Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to commit to the following: 

 

  • 65% of time dedicated to direct clinical service 

  • 35% of time split between individual supervision, group supervision, professional development activities, and administrative duties 

  • Partnering with the Pro-bono Counseling Project or Intercultural Counseling Center to see at least one client pro-bono (time reimbursed by practice owner)

  • Engagement in a long-term advocacy project, either based in the community or working with local/state government 

 

Training 

 

Post doctoral fellows will receive the following training throughout the year: 

 

  • Up to 2 hours of weekly individual supervision 

  • Up to 2 hours of weekly professional development (including, but not limited to group supervision, peer consultation, workshops, readings, case conference, supervision of supervision) 

 

Applicants 

 

Fellows/Resident should posses the following: 

 

  • Completed APA-accredited or APPIC-approved internship by fellowship start date 

  • A passion for social justice with an interest in expanding their advocacy skills 

  • An understanding of and interest in enhancing their application of mindfulness-informed, ACT, relational, psychodynamic modalities/frameworks  

  • Ability to work independently, as well as under supervision 

  • Warm, funny, engaging, and intellectually curious
